Can any type of fuel be used with the Boilex™ Tower stove?
No. The Boilex ™ Tower stove is designed specifically to perform with Zip™ Cooking Fuel.
Why should I use the Boilex™ Tower stove?
It’s the perfect cooking solution for small groups of people on the move or in non-permanent residences.It is a unique, flat packed design of 4 sides that slot together to form a robust, square, upright stove for use with large cooking pots and for groups of 1 to 8 people. It is designed to work with the larger block format of the Zip™ Cooking Fuel, which is based on a natural, sustainable biodiesel.

How much water can I boil?
Designed for cooking for small groups, the coated mild steel structure of the Boilex™Tower stove enables one block of Zip™ Cooking Fuel tobring 5 litres of water/fluidto boil in c30 minutes.
Are the stoves heat resistant?
Yes, the stove is made of coated mild steel and will be extremely hot during cooking; it should be allowed to cool for 3-4 minutes after use prior to handling.
How long after cooking can you pack them away?
The Boilex™Tower stove should be allowed 3 to 4 minutes to cool after use prior to being stowed away.
How do you transport them?
The Boilex™Tower stovehas 4 sides that can be flat packed for transport and easily carried in a pocket or pouch.
Do they come in a case?
No. The Boilex™ Tower stove is delivered within a polythene wrapper.
What size are they?
The Boilex™Tower stove is 140mm x 120mm x 5mm when packed or folded for storage and 140mm x 120mm x 120mm when assembled.
How much fuel do you have to use?
It varies depending on power required, altitude and climatic conditions. The stove is designed to boil 5 litres of water with one Zip™ Cooking Fuel block in c30 minutes at temperate ambient conditions; more fuel can be added for quicker performance. In colder conditions or at higher altitude, this may increase by a minute or two and an additional fuel block may be needed.
What type of metal pot / pan can you use?
Any that are sufficiently large to rest safely on the stove.
Can I use the stove indoors?
Yes, but only with adequate ventilation.
Can I use the stoves inside my tent?
Yes, but only with adequate ventilation.
How long does the stove take to assemble?
The Boilex™ Tower stove is delivered flat packedas 4 pieces which slot together; assembly should take less than 30 seconds.
What is the ideal format of the Zip™ Cooking Fuel for this stove, and how long should it last?
The Boilex™ Tower stove will work best with the 100g blocks of Zip™ Cooking Fuel, which should last about 30 minutes and be sufficient to boil 5 litres of water.
Can you put the stoves on any surfaces?
The Boilex ™ Tower stove should be placed on a flat, heat resistant surface or on the ground.

How do I clean the stoves?
If still on exercise/in theatre/travelling, the stoves can simply be brushed on the grass/ground to remove excess combustion deposits. If conditions allow, the stoves can be cleaned more thoroughly with a damp cloth or with soapy water.
How do I dispose of the stoves?
The Boilex™ Tower stoves can be disposed of in any designated metal recycling station, but is safe to dispose of in general trash. If in a combat scenario - bury in a hole in the ground, cover with soil and it will safely biodegrade over time.

How many uses do the stoves have before I have to get a replacement?
The stove may be used >100 times but is guaranteed for >25.
How long does it take to boil water?
The Boilex ™Tower stove will boil 5 litres of water with one fuel block in approximately 30 minutes.
Are there any sharp edges that could puncture plastic or material?
The Boilex ™ Tower stove is delivered in a plastic wrapper which prevents damage to other items from the edges of the metal. The stove can be repacked in the same packaging after use for safe carriage.
When can I use them?
For indoor (with adequate ventilation) and outdoor cooking, in most climatic conditions, including desert, Arctic and mountains.
What is the maximum saucepan / pot weight?
The Boilex ™ Tower stove will hold a weight of up to 30kg (litres), though more realistic use would be 5 to 10 litre pots.
Are they safe for children to use unsupervised?
We do not recommend any children or pets are left unsupervised in the presence of a lit stove.
Do they come in different colours?
No, the stove is the colour of its raw material, coated Mild Steel.
Can they be used at high altitude?
Yes. The Boilex ™ Tower stoves are designed to work at high altitude with Zip™ Cooking Fuel, but more than one fuel block may be required to bring the fuel to boil due to the lack of oxygen and the colder air temperature.
Will the stoves go rusty in damp conditions?
Yes. They are made of Mild Steel.
Will the stoves erode in artic temperatures?

How stable is the stove?
The Boilex ™ Tower stove has a solid square base to ensure stability.
Will the stove fall over easily?
No, the Boilex ™ Tower stove is stable as a result of the square shape to the base.
Which stove is good for me?
Boilex™ has 4 distinct stoves, 2 for individual cooking, 2 for group cooking. For individuals cooking with our Zip™ Cooking Fuel:

How many people can I cook for?
The Boilex ™ Tower stoveis designed to cook for 1-8 people. More people can be cooked for by repeat use.
Do the stoves come with cups or pots?
No, we only make Boilex ™ stoves and Zip™ Cooking Fuel/ignition products. Cups and pots should be purchased separately.
Do I need any other equipment to use them?
Plates/bowls and the required utensils, plus a lighter or matches for lighting the fuel.
Do the stoves come with instructions on how to use and assemble?
Yes, full instructions are available on the packaging and can be found on the product page of this website.
Are there a list of ‘don’ts’ when using the stoves or cooking fuel?
Store fuel out of the reach of children and pets. Don’t leave the stove unattended when in use. Keep on a stable surface from which it cannot fall. Please adhere to the warnings on all packaging.
